Learn how to play Beat The House and take your game to the next level!
Beat the House is an exciting and engaging card game that can be enjoyed by players of all ages. The objective of the game is to collect as many points as possible by taking risks and betting on your hand. In order to win, you'll need to master the art of beating the house!
The game begins with each player being dealt five cards. The player with the highest card in their hand begins the game, and play passes clockwise. On a player's turn, they must either play one card or draw one from the deck. If a player cannot play a card, they must draw two from the deck. The Ace is high and the Two is low.
There are three different ways to score points in Beat The House:
1) Point value of the cards - The point values of the cards are as follows: Ace (1), King (4), Queen (3), Jack (2), Ten (10), Nine (9), Eight (8), Seven (7), Six (6). When a player plays a card, they must announce the value of the card played. For example, if a player plays an Ace, they would say "One". If a player plays a Two, they would say "Two". When playing multiple cards at once, simply announce the total value of all played cards. For example, if a player plays an Ace and a Two, they would say "Seven".
2) Sequence - A sequence is three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. When playing a sequence, announce both numbers in sequence i.e. "Three" for 3 clubs). The suit does not matter for sequences. So you could have two spades and one heart in sequence for example and it would still count as three clubs.
3) Straights - A straight is four or more consecutive cards of different suits. Announce both numbers in sequence i.e."Ten" for 10 spades). Again, the suit does not matter for straights.
Once all players have either played all their cards or drawn replacements, the hand is scored accordingly:
- Point value of played cards - Score points based on the announced values of cards played during that particular hand. Remember to only announce values when playing individual cards, not when playing multiple cards at once. So for example if 4s are played then 4 pts are given .
Here's an example: Let's say Player 1 has 8c 6h 3s 2d As Kh and plays 7d 5c 4h 3d 2s . That would score 16pts because 7d 5c 4h = 17 .
-
Sequence - For each sequence played, score 10 pts .
-
Straight - For each straight played, score 20 pts . If there's a tie for highest card at any point during play, re-deal those particular hands and continue play from there. After the final hand has been scored, whoever has accrued the most points wins!
